YULEE, Fla. – Two men were arrested early Monday after they were accused of robbing an internet café on US Highway 17, the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office said.

At about 1:48 a.m., police received a report of an armed robbery at the Vegas Internet Café. Witnesses told police two men wearing hoodies entered the café. One of the men then waved a handgun at the patrons while the other man kept watch at the front door, witnesses said.

The man with the gun went to the cash register, grabbed the cash drawer and moved toward the front door, witnesses said. While trying to exit the café, the man dropped the cash drawer, spilling the money on the floor, witnesses said. The men picked up as much as they could before and fled north on US Highway 17 in a small four-door car, witnesses said.

As deputies were responding to the robbery, a description of the vehicle was given out and another deputy observed a car matching the description speeding northbound on US Highway 17, just north of State Road 200.

The deputy caught up to the vehicle just before it entered onto Interstate 95 north and stopped the vehicle at the Florida Agricultural Station.

Authorities said the deputy spotted money on the floorboard and on the seat around both occupants, as well as a handgun inside the vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Office said the car’s occupants, John Derrick Kitchen, 29, of St. Marys, Georgia, and Dwight Andra Dasher Jr., 29, of Folkston, Georgia, were arrested and booked into the Nassau County Jail.

Authorities did not specify which man they believed was watching the door and which one was in possession of the gun during the robbery.
