Police investigate double fatal shooting

PALM BAY, Fla. – A Palm Bay homeowner says he shot and killed two men in self-defense during an altercation inside his house, according to police.

Dispatchers received a 911 call around 1 a.m. from someone at a home on Thuringer Street NW. The caller said shots had been fired, and officers found two men dead inside the home.

According to Palm Bay police, two men who had a mutual friend with the homeowner were loitering outside his home and an argument ensued. The homeowner, who said that one of the men had a metal pipe, opened his door, and the duo entered his house, police said.

The homeowner told detectives that he then shot the men during a fight, according to police.

There was at least one other person inside the home with the homeowner when the pair entered, but no other injuries were reported, police said.

Palm Bay police continue to investigate.
