Pedestrian hit twice, killed in Orlando intersection

FHP: Man was jaywalking in intersection when he was hit

ORLANDO, Fla. – Florida Highway Patrol troopers say a man was hit by two cars and killed late Wednesday night.

Eliazer Figueroa, 49, of Casselberry, was killed in the crash, which happened at 11:15 p.m. at the intersection of Hanging Moss Road and Semoran Boulevard.

Troopers told Local 6 that Figueroa was trying to cross the road going against traffic, which had the right away. FHP said Figueroa was hit by two separate cars and then thrown onto the road. He died at the scene.

The driver of the first car, a 20-year-old Orlando man, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.  The other driver, a 25-year-old Casselberry man was not injured.

It's not known if charges will be filed in the case, and an investigation is ongoing, according to the FHP.

Troopers are also asking drivers and pedestrians to be extra careful at this intersection. The crash happened near a memorial set up for previous crash victims at the same location.
