KEY WEST, Fla. - Police say a man found the skeletal remains of a human in a wooded area Monday.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office say it's likely the male skeleton has been in the woods for months.

Investigators say the man found the human skeleton just east of Key West across from a school on Stock Island.

Investigators found the skeleton about 10 feet into the trees.  Along with the human skeletal remains they found a bag including belongings and a document that identifies a person inside.

Police say with further investigation, it can be determined if the document correctly identifies the male skeleton.

The medical examiner is working to figure out the cause of death, but deputies say there are no obvious signs of foul play.
