PALATKA, Fla. – A 21-year-old fugitive was caught last week during a traffic stop in Palatka, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

Xzavier Banks was arrested Wednesday on an active arrest warrant for three counts of attempted felony murder and one count of armed burglary.

The warrant for Banks' arrest stemmed from a dispute that resulted in shots being fired at three victims in October 2015 at a Belmont Street residence, deputies said.

Over the course of the investigation, detectives determined that Banks burglarized a vehicle belonging to one of the victims and intentionally fired shots at three victims. There were no injuries reported, deputies said.

Banks was arrested last week when officers with the Palatka Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 2600 block of Reid Street.

“Banks is a very dangerous suspect who is no longer free to roam the streets of Palatka due to the thorough investigation conducted by Major Crimes Detectives and teamwork between the Sheriff’s Office and the Palatka Police Department,” Sheriff Jeff Hardy said.
