Burglar caught in act at business, police say

Palatka police say suspect captured breaking into lawn equipment business

PALATKA, Fla. – A 24-year-old man was caught breaking in to a lawn equipment business Thursday morning in Palatka, police said.

According to the Palatka Police Department, officers responding to a burglary in progress call at R&J Power Equipment at Hicks Street and State Road 17 found the suspect, later identified as Antwan Johnson, still on the property.

The three officers surrounded the property, and Johnson was taken into custody.

Police said he had burglary tools on him.

He was charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools and resisting arrest without violence. He is being held in the Putnam County Jail.
