As of 10:30 p.m., the fire was 60 percent contained, according to the Forest Service.

The Forest Service said 10 structures had been threatened, but none currently.

"Variable winds are posing some challengers, but with Forestry and the numbers of tractors and Forestry units we have out here, we do believe we'll get it under control shortly," said Chief Quin Romay with Putnam Department of Emergency Services.

A helicopter will be making Bambi Bucket drops and an airplane will guide units on the ground.

Additional units from Jacksonville have been requested to assist.
