FHP: Woman, 22, seriously injured in hit-and-run

Troopers: Woman drives off SR 100, crashes to avoid being hit by wrong-way car

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. – A 22-year-old Florahome woman was seriously injured Wednesday night when she drove off the road to avoid being hit by a vehicle going the wrong way on State Road 100 in Putnam County, the Florida Highway Patrol said. 

The crash was reported just before 10:30 p.m.

According to FHP, the 22-year-old woman was driving a Nissan Altima west on S.R. 100 when she drove off the road to avoid being struck by an unknown vehicle heading east in the westbound lane. 

The Altima then hit a traffic sign, and the driver of the other vehicle did not stop, troopers said. 

The driver of the Altima was taken to Putnam Community Medical with serious injuries.
