Two men pistol-whipped in home invasion

Deputies searching for three armed men

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. – Two men were pistol-whipped in a home invasion robbery in Putnam County late Sunday night.

A witness said three armed men dressed in camouflage and masks forced their way into an apartment on Eagle Street in Palatka around 9 p.m.

The witness said the robbers forced everyone to the ground.

Two men, Kenneth Shorter and Lavar Brooks, were struck in the head by one of the robbers with a pistol.

Shorter was transported to Putnam Community Medical Center and Brooks was air-lifted to Shands Gainesville. Brooks is currently in stable condition.

Miscellaneous items and cash were taken from the victims and home.
