WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Authorities say a South Florida burglary suspect was shot Monday afternoon during a fight with a deputy.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office reports that 31-year-old Tinoris Williams was killed in suburban West Palm Beach.
Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said during a news conference that the deputy had been responding to a burglary call when he received information that the suspect was in a vacant unit next door. When the deputy entered that unit, Williams attacked.
Bradshaw said the two men began fighting for the deputy's gun. The deputy eventually managed to point the gun at Williams' head and pull the trigger. The gun was so close to the deputy's face when it fired that he had to be taken to the hospital with eye damage.
The Palm Beach Post reports that Williams had a lengthy criminal record.
