2 St. Augustine men arrested on drug charges after SWAT raid

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – Two St. Augustine men accused of selling drugs at a home were arrested Wednesday afternoon after a raid by law enforcement, authorities said.

Arlis Glendall Blount Jr., 19, and Kenneth William Floyd Jr., 25, are charged with possession of cocaine, maintaining a drug dwelling, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest without violence.

According to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, a search warrant at a Palmer Street residence was executed last Thursday by the detectives with the Special Investigations unit, Florida Department of Law Enforcement task force agents and a SWAT team.

The warrant was issued after investigator discovered narcotics were being sold from the residence.

The suspects were taken into custody after attempting to run off when SWAT arrived, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Two firearms, a .38 revolver and a 9 mm semiautomatic, were found inside, deputies said. A search warrant was also obtained for a white 2002 Lexus driven by Floyd after a narcotics K-9 alerted authorities, the Sheriff’s Office said. Investigators said they found 6.4 grams of cocaine and 3.1 grams of cannabis inside the vehicle.

Blount also had an active warrant for his arrest on a grand theft charge, deputies said.

Blount is being held without bond and Floyd is being held on a $23,000 bond at the St. Johns County Jail, according to jail records.
