3 teens arrested in Nocatee car burglary

Spike in teen arrests during summer, authorities say

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – Two teenage boys and one teenage girl were arrested early Wednesday in connection with a vehicle burglary in Nocatee, the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said.

Investigators announced Friday that they now believe the teens may have put some of the stolen items up for sale on sites like Craigslist.

"What we have since found was some e-commerce sites, where these individuals may have been selling items online," said SJCSO public information officer Cmdr. Chuck Mulligan.

Jonathan Austin Lulloff, 18, was booked into the St. Johns County Jail on a $10,000 bond. News4Jax has chosen not to name the 17-year-old boy and 16-year-old girl who were also arrested, since they are minors.

Deputies responded about 3 a.m. to the Walden Chase subdivision after receiving a report of three people in dark clothing.

The teens were found at Austin Park and taken into custody for questioning. Deputies said they also found a backpack that contained property from a vehicle burglary at a home on Battlegate Lane.

Investigators said they later recovered more stolen property from Lulloff's home, including several sets of keys.

The Sheriff's Office asked any Nocatee residents, specifically in the Walden Chase and Florentine neighborhoods, who are missing keys or other property to contact the Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said they have reason to believe stolen items were posted online as well and they're asking for help from anyone who made a purchase on sites like Craigslist or Swip Swap in the last two months.

"What we're hoping to do is be able to pair up some of these car burglaries, which we know young adults, even in their teenage years, are out committing car burglaries. We want to pair some of that up with the e-commerce sites to see if we can recover some of the stolen goods," Mulligan said.

But the thefts aren't isolated. A man and four teenagers were arrested Friday in Clay County after they were connected to more than 20 vehicle burglaries in the Oakleaf and Argyle area, deputies said.

Teenagers are not the only suspects in the cases. However, authorities said they do see a spike in teen arrests over the summer.

"Some of that could be correlated to young individuals not being in school, be that in high school or college age students. So we see that like every year. But we're hoping to rediscover some of the properties and get statements from the individuals who may have purchased it, so we can clear out more of these burglary caes," Mulligan said.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call SJCSO Detective David Garns at 904-824-8304.
