Fire destroys Complete Collision in St. Johns County

Explosions heard inside auto repair shop

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A fire destroyed an auto repair shop off State Road 207 in St. Johns County late Monday night into early Tuesday morning.

The first 911 call came in shortly before midnight, according to St. Johns County Fire Rescue. Complete Collision, a towing and auto repair shop, was burning and the roof collapsed.

Several small explosions were heard coming from inside the building. Gasoline, oil and other petroleum products were the likely source, according to SJCFR.

The Department of Environmental Protection was notified and dispatched an official to the site to investigate.

No other buildings outside the perimeter of Complete Collision were threatened by the fire.

The business was unoccupied and no injuries were reported.

As of 2 a.m., the fire was under control and firefighters began mop-up operations.

State Road 207 was closed in both directions overnight while firefighters worked to extinguish the flames.
