Hotel clerk pistol-whipped

Officials searching for suspect

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – A St. Augustine hotel clerk was pistol-whipped by an unknown man Thursday, the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said.

The clerk at the Hampton Inn at 2525 County Road 208 said at around 5 p.m., a man came into the hotel lobby, approached him and struck him in the head with a gun, deputies said.

The man fled in a light or cream-colored four-door car with dark tinted windows.

He was described as a black man in his mid-20s to mid-30s. He was about 5 feet 8 inches tall and was wearing black pants and a white shirt. He was with a white woman with blonde hair wearing jeans and a turquoise shirt.
