Man arrested after multi-county chase

Thomas Loncala, 47, arrested in St. Johns County

Deputies said they confiscated nearly $3,400 in cash, a handgun, 5 ounces of crystal meth and 5.8 grams of marijuana.

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – An Orlando man was arrested early Thursday morning after a high-speed chase from Orange County to St. Johns County.

Thomas Loncala, 47, was arrested and booked into the St. Johns County jail shortly after 5 a.m.

The chase began in Orlando but entered Flagler County around 10:53 p.m. on Wednesday, according the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.  The vehicle continued northbound on U.S. 1.

Deputies deployed stop sticks and hit three tires.  The driver continued north, driving on the car's rims, into St. Johns County.

A deputy there used a pit maneuver, which caused the car to roll into a ditch onto its roof.  

Loncala suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital, then booked into the St. Johns County jail.

He was charged with aggravated fleeing and alluding, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and trafficking meth with a firearm.

Deputies confiscated $3,396 in cash, a semi-automatic handgun, 5 oz. of crystal meth and 5.8 grams of cannabis.

A female passenger was not charged.
