Man gets 15-year sentence in stun-gun robbery

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – A St. Johns County jury on Tuesday convicted Dameon James to accessory after the fact to false imprisonment, aggravated battery and fleeing a police officer in connection with an incident a year ago in downtown St. Augustine.

According to prosecutors, James and co-defendant Casey Haworth approached a woman in a car on Aug. 25, 2012. While James stayed in the car asking for directions, prosecutors say Haworth sneaked up behind her and zapped her with a stun gun. She screamed, dropped her purse and ran off.

According to court papers, the pair made off with $40.

James was sentenced to 15 years in prison plus 10 years of probation.

Haworth is awaiting trial.
