Mumford & Sons' 'Gentlemen Of The Road' tour bringing big excitement to oldest city

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – A big-time band and their friends are half way through a four-stop tour of North America -- the last of which will be a two-day festival in St. Augustine the weekend of Sept. 13-14.

Mumford and Sons, the London-based folk band, and dozen other groups, are attracting so much attention -- and potential revenue -- the city set up a website (GOTRstaug.com) to list where to stay, what to do and how to get around during the event.

"The Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers are all about live music," the band wrote on the tour website. "We get to put them on in towns not normally frequented by touring bands in busses or splitter vans. We deliberately look for towns that have something unique, or some vibe of which they are proud,  explore them and enjoy what they have to offer and then we try to bring a party without leaving too much of a trail of destruction in our wake."

The festival will be held centered around Francis Field and features bands from all genres: folk rock, Americana, country and alternative rock.

The line-up of performances in St. Augustine was released -- although the performance times are not:

Friday, Sept. 13

  • Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros
  • The Walkmen
  • Thao & The Get Down Stay Down
  • Willy Mason

Saturday, Sept. 14

  • Yacht Club DJs
  • Mumford & Sons
  • fun.
  • The Vaccines
  • Justin Townes Earle
  • Half Moon Run
  • Those Darlins
  • Bear's Den

Reviews of the first two festivals held in late August featured many superlatives, including, inspired, magical, and "memories to last a lifetime."
