DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Volusia County Sheriff's Office hazardous materials team says a suspicious letter addressed to a judge has been deemed safe.
Deputies said the letter was received around 11:45 a.m. Monday at the S. James Foxman Justice Center on Ridgewood Avenue in Daytona Beach.

Daytona Beach fire officials said letters sent to judges are always checked, and deputies who handled this letter, sent in an ordinary white envelope, noticed a suspicious powder on their hands.
Two deputies were quarantined after handling the letter, which was not opened.
Officials performed tests on the envelope but found nothing suspicious.
