The fight over food trucks in Jacksonville will go on for another couple weeks. City leaders are going to put together a panel of food truck operators and business owners to come up with an official ordinance food trucks will have to follow. They are meeting the state licensing. And they are paying taxes.BROWN HAS PROPOSED A BILL THAT WOULD REQUIRE FOOD TRUCKS TO STAY 500 FEET FROM CITY PARKS UNLESS PERMITTED, 500 FEET FROM RESIDENTIAL AREAS, 25 FEET FROM A PUBLIC STREET AND THEY'D HAVE TO CLOSE BY MIDNIGHT.FOLLOWING A MEETING YESTERDAY TO DISCUSS THAT BILL, CITY LEADERS DECIDED A COMMITTEE MADE UP OF BOTH FOOD TRUCK AND RESTAURANT OWNERS WOULD BE BEST TO DRAFT THIS LEGISLATION.Kelly Pickens/Food truck owner 085622 I think they heard things they didn't know. Things that are already in place that they didn't know were already in place that they commented on that will help them make the future rules and laws better. 3 COUNCILMAN BROWN SAYS HE BELIEVES THE 17 VOLUNTEERS AND CITY STAFF SPEARHEADING THE COMMITTEE WILL BE ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH WHAT HE'S LOOKING FOR.THEIR FIRST MEETING WILL BE IN TWO WEEKS AT CITY HALL.. NO EXACT DATE OR TIME HAS BEEN SET YET.
