FDLE began its investigation in 2014 at the request of the Gainesville Police Department after questions concerning FOP expenses.

McAdams had sole control over the Lodge debit card, according to the FDLE.

Investigators believe McAdams stole thousands by double billing the FOP for travel expenses, spending money at restaurants and bars and purchasing gift cards that did not benefit the Gator Lodge, the FDLE said.

McAdams turned himself in Monday at the Marion County Jail and has a $12,000 bond.

Attorney General Pam Bondi's Office of Statewide Prosecution will prosecute this case.
