BAKER COUNTY, Fla. – Friends of a 17-year-old injured in a crash in which a 14-year-old girl was killed Saturday night in Baker County say he suffered several broken vertebrae in his lower back and is paralyzed from the waist down.
Corey Craig will have an exploratory surgery to determine the extent of the damage.

Troopers said Austin Kight, 17, was driving north on Claude Harvey Road at 9:45 p.m. Saturday when he tried to pass another vehicle. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the pickup went off the road and Kight tried to steer the pickup back onto the road. He lost control and the truck crossed the road and off the other side, overturning in the woods.
Kight and passengers Craig and Jordan Sommise were ejected. Kight and Craig sustained serious injuries and were transported to medical facilities for treatment. Kight has since been released. Sommise was declared dead at the scene.
There will be a community fundraiser to assist with Craig's medical bills and funeral expenses for the family of Sommise at 1 p.m. Dec. 15 at Shoals Park in Glen St. Mary.
A benefit account has been opened at First Federal Bank of Florida in the names of Jordan Sommise and Corey Craig.
A viewing for Sommise will be held Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Fraser Funeral Home on Normandy Boulevard in Jacksonville Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Glen St. Mary.
