Tonight, family and friends of 19-year-old Christopher McDowell gathered at a funeral home in Northwest Jacksonville -- to remember the teen. A hit and run driver killed McDowell as he walked home from a store on St. Johns Bluff road two weeks ago.The driver has yet to be found. Channel 4's Ashley Harding has been covering the story since it happened. She was there for McDowell's wake. She now joins us live with a message his family has for everyone watching -- Ashley? 3 3 3 It's been almost two weeks and his family never believed they'd still be here, not knowing who hit Christopher. "I have a great-grandson who is only three years old.He calls me Pop Pop.He says, 'Pop Pop, I miss Christopher'. A little 3 year old boy.' TRACK Florida Highway Patrol says McDowell was walking along St. Johns Bluff road when he was hit.His body was found later by a Jacksonville Sheriff's officer. The teen had just moved to his first apartment the day before, and was getting ready to begin college. "I had to keep his brother home from school for an entire week because it was just hard for him.He just really had a hard time." TRACK Gillis says since the tragedy, he's had the chance to meet other families still waiting for answers. Many deadly hit and run cases from last year alone remain unsolved.This includes Michael England, Haley Smith, and Randy Miller."It's becoming an epidemic whereas people just hitting people with their cars or vehicles and just driving away like nothing happened. And it's wrong." TRACK Tomorrow afternoon, McDowell will be laid to rest. His family says they still believe the person responsible will do the right thing."
