Fundraiser to help Ronald McDonald House

The Great McGala is happening this weekend

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Great McGala is this weekend at the Sawgrass Marriott and is celebrating 25 years of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Jacksonville.

Ronald McDonald House offers free temporary lodging to families who have a sick or injured child receiving medical care at a local hospital.  It's a 30-bedroom house that allows families to stay together and close to their children.

Christina Thompson recently stayed at The Jacksonville Ronald McDonald House while her 8 month old son, Ryan, was being treated for a heart problem.  Ryan has a hole in his heart.  Christina says the room allowed her to stay close to her son instead of having to drive back and forth to the hospital.

The McGala begins at 6:30 and runs until 11pm Saturday, May 3rd.  It is the largest fundraiser of the year for the charity organization.  Guests will enjoy dinner, live music, dancing and a silent auction.  For ticket information or to make a $25 donation, which is the cost to sponsor a family for a one night stay at Ronald McDonald House, call 904-807-4663 ext. 236 or email Annie Tutt at atutt@rmhcjax.org.

I will be serving as mistress of ceremonies during the event and hope to see you there.  Click for more information about Ronald McDonald House.

To leave a message of support or prayer for Christina Thompson's son, Ryan, you can post your comment on a Facebook page created in his name.
