DOUGLAS, Ga. -

Seven days after a 38-year-old man was found shot to death, the Douglas Police Department announced the arrests of three men in connection with the case.

Marcus Collins was found shot to death in the parking lot of the Round Tree Center on South Gaskin Avenue on Feb. 14. On Tuesday, police announced the arrests of Jacob Cornett, 18, Brandon Cole Williams, 17, and Michael Berrian, 25.

Charges against the three men are the result of an investigation involving the Douglas police, the Coffee County Sheriff's Office, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.

"All the agencies pulled together and shared information in this investigation," said Douglas Police Chief Gary Casteloes.

Collins' slaying came three days after two women were found dead in a Coffee County pond, just outside Douglas.

The three homicides in such a short time shocked the town of about 11,000 people that normally has only three or four killings in an entire year.

"No doubt it would have taken longer to solve the case had it not been for the mutual cooperation with the other agencies, but we would not have been able to solve it at all had it not been for concerned citizens coming forward with pertinent information regarding the case," said Deputy Chief Brannen Pruette said. "I want to thank them all."

Cornett, Williams and Berrian remain in custody and housed at the Coffee County Jail. Police said specific charges for each will be released later.
