Brantley County deputies say a 14-year-old boy has died after being hit by a car while riding his bicycle.
Capt. Wade Bennett of the Brantley County Sheriff's Office told the Florida Times-Union Justin Cody Smith was riding his bike Monday morning when two vehicles approached from behind. Police say the boy apparently thought there was one car behind him, switched lanes and began riding in the path of a second car.
Officials say a Chevrolet Suburban hit the boy and knocked him into a ditch. He was pronounced dead on the scene and authorities say charges are not likely to be filed.
