Brantley County schools will be closed Tuesday for students or teachers due to poor road conditions after days of heavy rainfall.
Channel 4 Chief Meteorologist John Gaughan says that while the area has only received about 2 inches of rain over the past 24 hours, it's had 5 or more inches in the past two weeks -- and it's still raining.
"Many of the secondary roads, where school buses would travel, are a muddied mess and impassable in spots," Gaughan said.
Rains will fade Monday night, but road conditions may be slow to improve.
A hard freeze is likely for the area this weekend, as they go from spring rains to winter-like chill.
