Brantley County schools will be closed again Wednesday for students and teachers due to poor road conditions after days of heavy rainfall.
Wylie Crews, transportation director for the county's schools, said school will reopen Thursday.
In addition to the rains the area has received since Sunday, Channel 4 Chief Meteorologist John Gaughan said it's had 5 or more inches in the past two weeks.
"Many of the secondary roads, where school buses would travel, are a muddied mess and impassable in spots," Gaughan said.
Rains continued Tuesday morning but later faded. Road conditions were expected to be slow to improve.
A hard freeze is likely for the area this weekend, as they go from spring rains to winter-like chill.
