Friday afternoon, the Camden County Sheriff's Office releases a sketch of the man they say tried to abduct an 11-year-old boy from a neighborhood of base housing on Naval Station Kings Bay on Monday.
Deputies are asking for the public's help to locate the man and the van he was driving when he was last seen Monday in the area of Oakridge Court at Kings Bay.
He was described as a white man his late 30s to early 40s with black hair, shorter in front and longer in the back. He may have a goatee or short facial hair. The driver is of a thin build and was last seen wearing a brown leather jacket and green shirt.
He was driving a Chevrolet sports van, faded black or primer-looking with no side windows, no side door, with yellowish/white blinds on both windows. The van has rust along the bottom on the back rear doors and scratches on top of rear doors and rusty bumpers.
Deputies say there have been several reported sightings of the van, but none confirmed.
Kings Bay doesn't comment on their security procedures, but they told Channel 4 every member of their base police force and security knows to be on the lookout.
Anyone with information about this vehicle or the man's identity is asked to call the Camden County Sheriff's Office at 912-729-1442 or the Camden County Crimeline at 912-510-5163.
