Authorities say a southeastern Georgia man being indicted in his wife's death was looking to fraudulently collect her life insurance benefits.
WTOC-TV reports 26-year-old Jonathan Courson has been charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, making a false statement, reckless conduct, tampering with evidence and insurance fraud.
The man surrendered to police earlier this month after authorities say he made up a story about two men killing 28-year-old Mandy Courson during a home invasion on Jan. 4.
Authorities say the woman was strangled with a rope and Jonathan Courson had minor scratches when police responded to their home.
Baxley is about 85 miles southwest of Savannah.
