The lawyer for David Edenfield went before the Georgia Supreme Court on Wednesday arguing for a new trial in the 2007 kidnapping, sexual assault and murder of 6-year-old Christopher Barrios (pictured, below).
Edenfield, the only person tried in the case, was convicted and sentenced to death.
Peggy Edenfield pleaded guilty and testified against her husband. She was sentenced to 60 years.
The couple's son, George Edenfield, was ruled not competent for prosecution.
A fourth suspect, Donnie Dale, pleaded guilty to lying to police about hiding the boy's body, and was remanded to a state psychiatric facility for five years.
