A 43-year-old Kingsland man has been arrested in connection with sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl.
Kingsland police said that on Sept. 4, they received a complaint of a possible sexual assault on the girl by a man she didn't know.
Investigators said Holden Nguyen was driving a gold vehicle in the area of Highway South U.S. 17 when he waived to the girl and called out to her, then asked her if she wanted a ride home. The girl said she thought the man was the father of one her friends and accepted the ride, according to police.
Once inside the vehicle, Nguyen drove to a fast food restaurant on Boone Street in Kingsland and bought food for the girl, police said. They said he then drove to his home and told the girl he wanted to show her his cats.
Once inside the home, the girl said Nguyen sexually assaulted her and then returned her to the area of her home, according to police.
Police said they later searched Nguyen's home and found evidence that led to an arrest warrant being issued.
On Wednesday, deputies from the Camden County Sheriff's Office traveled to Lihue, Kauai, in Hawaii, where Nguyen was on a business trip. Deputies arrested Nguyen and extradited him to Camden County.
Nguyen was booked into the Sheriff's Office Public Safety Complex in Woodbine on charges of enticing a child for indecent purpose, false imprisonment and child molestation.
