An additional charge of rape has been added to a 43-year-old Kingsland man accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl, according to the Kingsland Police Department.
Holden Nguyen was extradited to Camden County from Hawaii after his arrest in September. He was later released on bond from the Camden County jail as the investigation continued.
Police said the new charge involves the same victim and the same original incident.
Nguyen was taken into custody Tuesday night and booked into the Camden County jail in Woodbine.
In September, investigators said Nguyen was driving a gold vehicle in the area of Highway South U.S. 17 when he waived to the girl and called out to her, then asked her if she wanted a ride home. The girl said she thought the man was the father of one her friends and accepted the ride, according to police.
Once inside the vehicle, Nguyen drove to a fast food restaurant on Boone Street in Kingsland and bought food for the girl, police said. They said he then drove to his home and told the girl he wanted to show her his cats.
Once inside the home, the girl said Nguyen sexually assaulted her and then returned her to the area of her home, according to police.
Police said they later searched Nguyen's home and found evidence that led to an arrest warrant being issued.
Deputies from the Camden County Sheriff's Office traveled to Lihue, Kauai, in Hawaii, where Nguyen was on a business trip. Deputies arrested Nguyen there.
Nguyen was initially charged with enticing a child for indecent purpose, false imprisonment and child molestation.
