Federal authorities say an Alabama man has been charged in a slaying at an Army post in southeast Georgia, but officials are releasing few details about the case.
The FBI said Friday that 41-year-old Carl Evan Swain was arrested in his hometown of Jasper, Ala., on a warrant charging him with murder in a death at Fort Stewart near Savannah.
FBI spokesman Stephen Emmett in Atlanta and Fort Stewart spokesman Kevin Larson declined to comment further. It was not known Friday whether Swain had an attorney.
Murder on a government reservation, in this case a Army post, is a federal crime.
