Brunswick church cancels services due to cold weather
Pastor says closing takes financial toll on church
Cold weather impacted some churches Wednesday night, a popular night for many to attend church services in Brunswick.
The big concern, Pastor Ken Adkins told Channel 4, is making sure congregations were safe and off the roads, even if it means sacrificing a popular night for the church.
"We knew it was going to be inclement weather and I didn't really want to cause people to do a whole lot of driving," said Adkins.
Adkins made the decision early Wednesday not to open for service at Greater Dimensions Christian Fellowship in Brunswick. Adkins told Channel 4 they usually have a crowd of 120 people for services on Wednesday nights and that closing up Wednesday will take a financial toll on the church.
"You always worry about it on the financial end of it, but the resources was not worth getting people sick," said Adkins.
Adkins said despite the church being closed for services Wednesday night, it will be doing a lot of its charity work and getting in touch with people who might need supplies to deal with the cold weather.
