ATLANTA, Ga. -

Some roadside discoveries are leaving residents in an Atlanta neighborhood on edge.  On the roadsides are dead dogs wrapped in plastic.

Animal control officers aren't sure where the dogs are coming from or why they are being dumped on the side of the road.  Officers are containing their investigation to the Capital View area of southwest Atlanta.

WSB-TV reports the dog carcasses have been found in multiple areas including in storm drains and near abandoned homes.

Currently the police department is not involved in the case.  The department will become involved, according to Fulton County Animal Cruelty Investigator Paul Ebbs, if it becomes a common occurrence.
