Girl, 7, uses Heimlich maneuver on choking student
Teachers and classmates of a 7-year-old Georgia girl are calling her a hero after she noticed a fellow student choking in the cafeteria at her school and performed the Heimlich maneuver.
The Brunswick News reports that Molli-Malone Wommack was eating lunch at Golden Isles Elementary School in coastal Georgia Wednesday when she noticed a classmate clutching her throat and her face turning purple.
While other children at the table ran to get a teacher, the 7-year-old second-grader knew exactly what was happening.
Molli said she stood up, went behind her choking classmate, reached around her waist and pushed on her stomach and the food came out.
Molli said her mother taught her the Heimlich maneuver and CPR when she was 5 years old because it's something everyone should know.
