BRANTLEY COUNTY, Ga. – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Brantley County Sheriff's Office are investigating after hunters found human remains in the woods off State Route 110 north of Atkinson on Tuesday.
The remains had been there months, if not longer, and were scattered by scavengers, investigators said.

The GBI is awaiting lab tests to determine the gender, age and race of the person.
Investigators were checking with area law enforcement agencies on missing persons reports.
