A late morning accident just before the State Road 27 exit involved a tractor-trailer that caught fire and a car.

Authorities said I-95 northbound was closed from exit 22 to exit 42. Traffic was diverted onto U.S. 17 through Brunswick, then back on I-95 at exit 40.

Later Tuesday afternoon, a car stopped in traffic on I-95 was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer, killing the driver, 71-year-old Reinhold Steinhilber, of Altamonte Springs, Fla.

Also killed was a couple from Bonita Springs, 80-year-old Rocco Urso and 76-year-old Heidy Urso.

The Georgia State Patrol was doing a reconstruction of the seven-vehicle pileup Wednesday. Troopers said charges are pending.
