"From deployments and maintenance periods, to inspections and certifications, Georgia constantly rises to the challenges placed in front of her," Richard said.

During the ceremony, Jaehn bid farewell to his crew and counterparts attributing his successful tour to their teamwork and dedication as professionals.

"As you can tell, submarining is a team sport. It is only through collaboration that we can really realize the true potential of the SSGN and the submarine force," said Jaehn. "I have been blessed beyond all comprehension by the finest crew I have served with in over 25 years. It has been and honor and a privilege to serve alongside the men and women of Georgia."

After praising his crew, Jaehn spoke of his appreciation for the unwavering patience and support provided by the family members of Georgia.

"The hours were long and all those duty days just seemed to blend together. I asked a lot from your husbands, wives, fiancées and fathers. The sacrifices that you have made are more important now than any other in our nation's history as our enemies threaten us from all corners."

Following Jaehn's speech, Badorf thanked him for turning over a great crew and ship and expressed his excitement to be returning to the fleet.

"I'm honored to take the helm of Georgia Gold," said Badorf. "We have a great team, and I'm looking forward to continued success in support of our country's defense."

Badorf comes to Georgia from U.S. Fleet Forces Command, where he served as executive assistant to the deputy commander. Jaehn's next assignment will be chief of staff at Carrier Strike Group 10.
