Columbia County to conduct active shooter drill

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. - Columbia County Emergency Management will be conducting an active shooter exercise at Richardson Middle School on March 13.

The exercise will involve law enforcement, emergency medical personnel, emergency management and other first responders.

All play will be contained to the Richardson Middle School campus. No live ammunition or weapons will be allowed on campus during the exercise, but controlled simulated weapons and ammunition will be used during the exercise.

Columbia County officials want to make residents aware of the exercise.

The area will be secured and no unauthorized personnel will be able to enter the premises.

Residents are asked to limit business and/or traffic around the school between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.
