COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. - A teenager from Lake City was arrested early Friday morning in connection with a house fire.

Columbia County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a fire on Thursday at 149 NE Campus Place, which is just north of US-90 and the Lake City Airport.

Witnesses at the scene told deputies a suspicious person was seen near the house prior to the fire being discovered.  The Florida State Fire Marshal's Office responded to the scene to help in the investigation.

Investigators were able to identify the suspect as Alfred William Hatcher and located him at his home a short distance away.  Investigators said Hatcher started the fire with a lighter.

Alfred William Hatcher, 19, was taken into custody around 4 a.m. on Friday and transported to the Columbia County Detention Facility and booked on arson charges.

It's undetermined how much monetary damage was caused to the house.
