According to police, officers arrived at Acres' 3rd Avenue home to conduct a welfare check and determined an assault might have taken place inside. The officers forced their way into the home and found Acres' body.

Her 2008 Prius was missing, and a BOLO was issued for the vehicle and for Tokimasa, who had recently visited Acres.

Tokimasa was found on Walden Shores Lane and was arrested and charged with murder and theft by taking of the automobile.

Tokimasa faces additional charges from the Glynn County Police Department in reference to an incident that occurred in its jurisdiction, police said.

Acres' body was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations Medical Examiner for further examination. The Brunswick Police Department will work with the coroner’s office to find the cause, manner and mechanism of Acres' death.

The case is being treated as an isolated incident, police said.
