Resident calls Glynn County 911 to say he accidentally shot someone

SEA ISLAND, Fla. – A woman on a Sea Island golf course Sunday morning was hit in the stomach by a bullet man who says he was out shooting squirrels, according to the Glynn County Sheriff's Office.

Glynn County police say Edward George Johnson (pictured, below), who lives on Forest Road in Ocean Forest, called 911 about 11 a.m. to say he accidentally shot someone.

Authorities found Jane Prendergast, 70, of Sea Island, near the green of the fifth hole with a gunshot wound to her stomach.

Police say she was shot once with a .22-caliber rifle. She underwent surgery for her wounds and was in intensive care on Sunday afternoon.

Johnson, 65, was charged with one count of reckless conduct.  He was released after posting $911 bond.
