These indictments follow another string of indictments already handed down on Humphries for his involvement in the home invasion on Oct. 27, 2015 at 204 Miller Street.

At the time of the original investigation it could only be determined the victim had been shot with a revolver by an unknown assailant described as being very tall man wearing all dark colored clothing who forced entry into the home. The investigation stalled, as no leads were produced to assist in the furthering of the investigation.

Days later a second similar home invasion occurred involving a lone assailant on Miller Street. Humphries ws captured with a revolver type weapon.

The similarities in both home invasion incidents and the description of Humphries led to the  reopening of the Margaret Street investigation. At the time of the original investigation one of the items of evidence recovered at the Miller Street home was a small-caliber bullet believed to be fired from the revolver used by the unknown assailant.

The small caliber-bullet recovered at the Margaret Street incident along with the .38 caliber revolver recovered during the Miller Street incident investigation were submitted to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Coastal Crime Lab, Division of Forensic Science, Savannah, GA for ballistics comparison.

In December 2015 the GBI Division of Forensic Science issued a their ballistics comparison findings, which concluded the bullet recovered from the Margaret Street residence was fired from the .38-caliber revolver recovered during the Miller Street incident investigation.

As a result of the ballistic comparison and additional information gathered Detective Gilliland filed the Margaret Street investigation with the District Attorney, Camden County Office, Woodbine, GA for review and disposition.

Humphries still remains in custody at the Camden County Sheriff’s Office Jail in Woodbine.
