WAYCROSS, Ga. – The “Basketball Cop” from the Gainesville Florida Police Department, Bobby White, visited Waycross, Georgia, Friday to present a basketball goal and basketballs to the Waycross Police Department.

Officer White gained attention after a video went viral of him playing basketball with a group of children. A resident complained in January that the boys were making too much noise, but instead of reprimanding them, White joined them in a game of basketball.

His actions sparked a movement called #HoopsNotCrime, which has received worldwide attention.

White contacted Chief Tony Tanner of the Waycross Police Department to see if he would be interested in accepting the basketball goal and basketballs after hearing of some of the activities the Waycross Police Department offers to its community.

White made the presentation in Pernell Roberts Memorial Park Friday afternoon.
