Girlfriend guilty of hitting man with car, killing him
A 43-year-old Jacksonville woman was found guilty Thursday evening in the 2011 death of her boyfriend.
A jury convicted Vonice Green on one count of manslaughter in the death of Lamarca Wilcox.
In July 2011, police were notified that a person was struck by a vehicle off of Interstate 10. When officers arrived on scene, Wilcox was found lying next to Green and her vehicle, which had noticeable damage to the hood.
Investigators found that Green and the victim had been in an argument while driving westbound on I-10. As they stopped at the McDuff Avenue exit, Wilcox exited the SUV and began running down the exit ramp. Green then struck the victim with the vehicle, killing him.
Green now faces 30 years in prison and will be sentenced Dec. 6.
