JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – There is Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and even Cyber Monday, but Tuesday was marked as a global day dedicated to giving back dubbed Giving Tuesday.

One local organization that supports families hit by violent crime did just that.

Volunteers with the Justice Coalition were creating little stuffed bears for some of those families using clothing from a victim.

Those victims could be a missing person or even someone who lost their life in a violent crime.

They sew the bear together out of the material and save it for a special event later in the month.

The victims’ rights group said it's trying to help families get through what can be a painful holiday season.

Florida State College at Jacksonville also honored Giving Tuesday with an effort called "Giving Back.. Going Forward."

A donation helped plant 200 new trees at FSCJ's campuses.

The school also collected donations for local nonprofits including Toys for Tots.
