Group aims to empower women with Fierce Talks

Inspirational, motivational speakers to meet every Wednesday with women

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – She is Fierce! is an organization dedicated to empowering women to live boldly by providing a platform for inspiration to local women in Northeast Florida.  

A motivational speaker will gather with local women every Wednesday at The Treasury on the Plaza in St. Augustine. The series is called Fierce Talk and will involve local, regional and national women who will share their personal stories and words of wisdom.

"The evening will include an inspiring Fierce Talk with our featured speaker, a DJ spinning 'Diva' music, a photo booth, a 'Words of Wisdom' video, themed cocktails and a lot more," explained Kelly Youngs, the series creator.

More than 400 free tickets have already been reserved online and 900 women are expected to attend the nine-week speaker series.

The first event is Wednesday, June 3.  The focus will be defining your image.  Melissa Ross, host of WJCT's "First Coast Connect," will be the featured speaker.

Series speakers:

June 10: Call Her Coach, Debbie Powers author of "Meeting Her Match" and former Ball State University Basketball Coach will speak.  She encourages women of all ages to attend.  She will discuss the challenges of playing sports as a young woman in a world dominated in the 1950s and 1960s by male athletes.

June 17: Joy in Service, Cindy Funkhauser, President and CEO of the Sulzbacher Center.

June 24: Life and Style, Kate Taylor, founder of Taylor Made Coaching

July 1: It's a Woman's World, Toni Chrabot, former FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge

July 8: Defying the Odds, Loretta Claiborne, ESPY- Arthur Ashe Award for Courage recipient and Special Olympics Gold Medalist who has been featured on Oprah twice and has a Disney movie made about her life

July 15: True Leadership, Charlene Landen, Vice President of Business Affairs for PGA Tour Entertainment

July 22: Following Your Passion, Kumasi Aaron, News4Jax Reporter and Anchor

July 29: Fresh Air, Janice Jones, Owner/Managing Partner of CycleHere Media and former Chief Meteorologist, NBC Raleigh
