Habitual offender given life sentence for 2014 attempted murder

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Anthony Jackson was sentenced Friday to life in prison for his conviction on second-degree attempted murder, armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Prosecutors in Duval County say Jackson approached a victim in the community room of his apartment complex in August 2014, struck him in the head. After a struggle, Jackson took the victim's wallet and left.

When the victim followed Jackson outside to ask for his wallet back, Jackson pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the leg.

Jackson, 38, was convicted in January and sentenced as a habitual felony offender and prison release re-offender
