HASTINGS, Fla. – St. Johns County fire officials said firefighters had contained a brush fire near Hastings on Thursday afternoon.
The fire was contained to a few acres and not threatening any structures. Firefighters were planning to let the fire burn itself out.

The cause of the fire was not known, but News4Jax meteorologist John Gaughan said Thursday's dry and warm conditions are why the spring is Florida's wildfire season.
